01 — The brief

Time travel through immersive design

The Brief

An immersive film of the historic marriage of John Jay and Sarah Livingston at Liberty Hall, released in two formats: widescreen and 360° VR. Audience members become time travelers going back to the 1700s.

The Constraint

An immersive film is invisible to anyone who hasn’t worn the headset, and a period production leaves no room for a visible crew. Coverage had to be captured around a live 360° set, where anything in view is in the film.

The film earned a New York Emmy nomination (Nostalgia Program, 2020), the Videographer's Award of Excellence (VR, 2020), and MARCOM Platinum (VR/AR/Mixed Reality, 2019). Directed by Ed Johnston and Emmanuel Vozos; I led behind-the-scenes, coordinated the student production crew, and shot the aerial videography, along with the photo and video used by University Relations for marketing and recruitment.

04 — Outcome

Released in widescreen and 360° VR, recognized with an Emmy nomination and two industry awards. The BTS photo and video I shot became University Relations marketing and recruitment material.
